Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 9, 2026

Pelican Maintenance & Handyman Services ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights regarding it. By using our website or requesting our services, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

When you submit a contact form or quote request, we collect the following information:

  • Name: first and last name
  • Phone number: so we can call or text you about your request
  • Email address: so we can email you about your request
  • Property / service address: for scheduling and job estimates
  • Project details: the type of work requested and any notes you provide
  • Usage data: pages visited, browser type, and referring URL (via standard server logs)

We do not collect payment card data directly — payments are processed by a PCI-compliant third-party processor.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you submit only to respond to your inquiry and provide our services:

  • Responding to quote requests and scheduling appointments
  • Sending service confirmations and follow-up communications about your request
  • Improving our website and service offerings
  • Complying with legal obligations

We use your data only for the purposes stated above. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.

3. We Do Not Sell Your Data

Pelican Maintenance & Handyman Services does not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. This applies to all users, including California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

4. Data Sharing & Our Service Providers

We share your information only in limited circumstances:

  • Website platform & data processor: our website and the forms you submit are built and hosted on the Base44 platform. Base44 acts as our third-party data processor — it receives, stores, and processes the information you submit through our contact, quote, and Pro inquiry forms (name, phone, email, address, and project details) on our behalf, under contract, and only to operate the site for us.
  • Other service providers: email and scheduling tools that help us operate (under data processing agreements)
  • Legal requirements: if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights

All third-party service providers are contractually obligated to keep your information confidential and use it only to perform services for us.

5. Third-Party Tools & Tracking Actually in Use

We audited the scripts and services that actually load when you visit our site. The only third parties involved are:

  • Base44 — our website platform and data processor (see Section 4), which stores the information you submit through our forms and powers the app's backend.
  • Google Places Autocomplete — powers the address suggestion field; the text you type into that field is sent to Google to generate address suggestions.
  • Google Fonts — loads the Inter typeface used across the site.
  • OpenStreetMap (via Leaflet) — renders the service-area map tiles.
  • Unsplash — a stock-photo CDN that serves the project and service images on our pages.

We do not run Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising pixels, or any third-party advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookies/local storage we use are essential: remembering your cookie-consent choice and basic form state. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) are collected for security and site operation, not for cross-site tracking.

6. How We Protect Your Information

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption)
  • API keys and credentials are stored server-side only — never exposed in frontend code
  • Access to customer records is restricted to authorized staff only
  • We use industry-standard cloud infrastructure with regular security updates

7. Data Retention

We retain the personal information you submit through our forms for as long as we have an active relationship with you and for up to three (3) years after your last interaction with us, so we can respond to follow-up inquiries and provide ongoing service. Job and billing records are retained for as long as required by law (typically up to seven years for tax and legal purposes).

You can request deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us at maintenance@pelicanofficial.com. We will remove your data within 30 days of your request, unless we are legally required to retain it (for example, records needed for tax or legal compliance).

8. Your Rights (GDPR — EEA / UK Residents)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have the following rights:

  • Right of Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right to Rectification: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): request deletion of your data
  • Right to Restriction: ask us to limit how we use your data
  • Right to Data Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Right to Object: object to processing based on legitimate interests or direct marketing

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at maintenance@pelicanofficial.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9. California Residents — CCPA Rights

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell (we do not sell)
  • Delete personal information we have collected about you (with limited exceptions)
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Opt-Out of Sale: we do not sell personal information, so no opt-out is needed
  • Non-Discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising any CCPA rights

To submit a CCPA request, email us at maintenance@pelicanofficial.com with the subject line "CCPA Request."

10. Cookies

Our website uses only essential cookies and local storage for functionality (for example, remembering your cookie-consent choice and form state). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some site features may not function correctly.

11. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of our website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
