Terms of Service
Effective Date: August 8, 2026
Welcome to Pelican Maintenance & Handyman Services ("Pelican," "we," "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website and your requests for our home maintenance and handyman services in Northwest Florida. By using this website or requesting our services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.
1. Who We Are
Pelican Maintenance & Handyman Services is an insured, Florida-registered handyman and home maintenance company serving Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa Counties. We provide carpentry, painting, flooring, general repairs, and routine property and vacation rental maintenance. We are not a licensed contractor, and work that requires a licensed trade (such as structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, gas, or roofing work) is outside the scope of our services.
2. Inquiries, Quotes, and Estimates
Submitting a quote request through this website is an inquiry, not a contract. No work is agreed until we provide a written estimate and you accept it. Estimates are valid for 30 days from their date and are based on conditions visible at the time of our walkthrough or review. Hidden conditions discovered once work begins (such as rot, water damage, mold, pest damage, or prior improper repairs) may require a revised estimate or a change order before work continues. The specific terms printed on each estimate apply to that job.
3. Changes to Work (Change Orders)
Any work added to or changed from an accepted estimate will be priced and approved in writing (email or text is sufficient) before we proceed. We do not perform surprise work or add surprise charges.
4. Scheduling, Access, and Cancellations
We schedule work in agreed arrival windows during our business hours (Monday through Friday 7am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 2pm; phones are answered 24/7). You agree to provide reasonable, safe access to the work areas at the scheduled time, including securing pets. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us as much notice as you can; we will do the same if weather or emergencies affect our schedule.
5. Payment
A deposit may be required to schedule work, as stated on your estimate. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the balance is due upon completion of the work. Invoices unpaid after completion may delay scheduling of future work.
6. Materials
We can supply materials or install materials you provide. When we supply materials, their cost appears on your estimate. When you supply materials, you are responsible for their suitability, quantity, and timely availability, and failures caused by customer-supplied materials are not covered by our workmanship warranty. Manufacturer warranties on materials remain with the manufacturer.
7. Workmanship Warranty
When Pelican supplies the materials for a job, we warrant our workmanship on that job for one year from completion and will repair defects in our workmanship at no charge. This warranty does not cover customer-supplied materials, normal wear, misuse, neglect, alterations by others, or damage from weather, storms, moisture intrusion, pests, or structural movement. To make a warranty claim, contact us at maintenance@pelicanofficial.com or (850) 988-7646 within the warranty period and we will make it right.
8. Licensed Trades and Permits
We do not perform work that Florida law reserves for licensed contractors, and we do not obtain building permits. If your project requires a licensed trade or a permit, we will tell you, and where we can we will point you to an appropriate licensed professional. Advice on this website or from our team about licensed-trade topics is general information, not professional engineering, electrical, plumbing, or legal advice.
9. Your Responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate information in your service requests, to disclose known hazards at the property (such as unsafe structures, asbestos, or aggressive animals), to remove or protect fragile items in and near the work area, and to obtain any approvals required by a landlord, association, or co-owner before work begins.
10. Communications
If you check the consent box on our quote form, you agree that we may contact you by phone, email, and text message about your request. Message and data rates may apply, and consent is not a condition of purchase. You can opt out of marketing messages at any time by replying STOP to a text, using an unsubscribe link, or emailing us at maintenance@pelicanofficial.com. Our collection and use of your information is described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Website and Content
The content on this website (text, photos, logos, and design) belongs to Pelican Maintenance & Handyman Services or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may view and share it for personal, non-commercial purposes; please do not republish it commercially without our permission. We try to keep the website accurate and available, but it is provided "as is" and may occasionally contain errors or be temporarily unavailable.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Florida law, our total liability for any claim arising out of a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, and nothing limits our insurance coverage for covered claims.
13. Disputes
If something is not right, tell us first — most concerns are resolved with a phone call and a return visit. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be governed by Florida law, with venue in the county where the work was performed.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with its effective date. Changes apply to service requests made after the change is posted.
